Artisan Coffee Bar @ Bangsar Village 2

After dinner one day with some ex-colleagues, we decided to chill and hangout at the place. Another coffee bar that is suddenly mushrooming all over Klang Valley, this place offers a nice and quiet environment to chillax in Bangsar Village.

For those who is not sure what to order(like me), there is a nice guide above the bar counter that's nicely done :)

They also serve a variety of light foods and ice-cream(The Last Polka, yummy !!)

Bible of coffee drinking & their menu

Real fruit juice(guava & lychee) with no added sugar and water (RM10)

They serve tea from TWG too... (RM12)

I didnt know what i wanted as i had 3 cups of black coffee that day, so i decided on a small bottle of fruit juice and Assam Harmutty tea from TWG. First the small bottle of juice is real small, i figure its probably about 100 - 150ml max only !!!

Secondly the tea...doesn't taste like TWG at all, it taste more like some Teh-O panas from the mamak across the street. Very disappointed at the tea, and i suspect they didn't use tea leaves from TWG....

Latte ordered by my friend. Strong ! (RM11)

Salted Gula Melaka (RM7.20)

Various cakes and light food. Didn't try though as just after dinner

Summary:

Stay away from the Tea and Fruit Juice. Although they says "TWG" tea it taste like Teh-O ordered from the mamak across the street, in fact that Teh-O taste better. As for the fruit juice its severely overpriced as u only get a big gulp then its finished. Stick to their coffee.

Rating:

Environment - 3.5/5 (nice, quiet place. their decor makes you feel right at home)
Yummy Factor - 2.5/5 (their coffee was good and strong. one of the best and would have gave 4 out of 5 if not for their horrible tea and fruit juice.)
Value for money - 2.5/5 (prices on the high side compared to other coffee places in the same building)
Service - 3/5 (Mostly self service but very friendly barristers)
Will return ? - Yes for coffee and ice-cream not for others.

Overall - 2.5/5

  1. G'day Kenneth,

Thanks for the upfront review. I do have to correct you on two things the Smooshie is RM5.50, not RM10. The tea is most assuredly from TWG. I have personally tasted seven different teas available in Malaysia so far and TWG still comes out on top. It is also the most expensive, but we like to stick with quality. We brew the Assam Harmutty for two minutes. Any longer and the tannins start to over-power the brew. That said, some people like their tea so strong it'll melt their spoon. It's a matter of taste. Our speciality is coffee, however, and I'm glad your friend enjoyed their latte and I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy your drinks.
Your photos are great, by the way.
    Michael
